Biography
Ann Robinson is Associate General Counsel – Investments and Securities at The Pennsylvania State University. She reports jointly to the General Counsel and the Chief Investment Officer, and is the first and sole attorney dedicated exclusively to the University’s Office of Investment Management (“OIM”). In this role, Ann advises OIM and the Penn State Investment Council on the University’s investment activities and policies and related fiduciary, governance, regulatory, risk-management, compliance, and operational matters. She serves as the University's legal representative providing counsel to the Penn State Retirement Oversight Committee, which evaluates, manages, and monitors the University's employee retirement programs and investment options.
Ann has more than two decades of specialized experience advising clients on investments across public and private markets, spanning a broad range of asset classes, including private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, fixed income, credit, real estate, real assets, and infrastructure. Her experience encompasses both the sponsor and investor sides of the industry. Before joining Penn State, Ann advised private fund sponsors and asset managers as well as sophisticated institutional investors—including large state pension systems and nonprofit organizations—on investment and investment-related matters. Ann began her investment management practice at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in the firm's Fund Formation/Investment Management Group, where she advised leading private equity and hedge fund sponsors on fund formation, compliance, and regulatory matters.
Ann earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School and her B.A. in Foreign Languages and Literature from National Taiwan University. She is admitted to practice in New York and Texas. Ann is a native speaker of both English and Mandarin Chinese.
