Associate General Counsel
Sarah L. Helmick is Associate General Counsel at The Pennsylvania State University. She joined the Office of General Counsel after working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Transatlantic Middle East District for a number of years. While she was with the Army, Sarah focused her practice on employment law and litigation, including matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Merit Systems Protection Board, as well as complex construction litigation before the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals. Prior to her work with the Army, Sarah was in private practice, advising and defending employers on employment law matters and litigation, including wage and hour, discrimination, leave and disability issues, discipline, harassment, whistleblower retaliation, and termination. Sarah has experience litigating before state, federal, and appellate courts, as well as administrative agencies and arbitration tribunals. Sarah received a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University, where she was a Meinig Family Cornell National Scholar, and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
